As promised, here are the pics from our trip to the Kwik-E-Mart in Dallas. I was disappointed to discover that Duff beer was not one of the items available for purchase, but it will still really cool.
I am so exhausted. It might be jet lag or it could just be life. Although I kinda think it's probably jet lag. We flew back to Hawaii on Wednesday. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone. My family has some issues and it was hard to leave knowing those issues were not resolved. I had so much fun in Texas, though. I spent most of the time staying with my brother and his wife. We hadn't seen each other in years, and it was nice to reconnect and get to know them again. I really enjoyed t...
Yesterday I got to meet my second JoeUser. Locamama and her brood and me and my brood met up at the Fort Worth Science and History museum to check out the Star Wars exhibit. The place was paaaaaacked. I didn't know if I would be able to find Amy because I had never seen a photo of her before. And neither have any of you...until now! So I stood in the entrance looking squinty and stupid, trying to sleuth out someone both loca and a mama. The line for tickets twisted, turned, and then...
One of my mommy friends that I met online lives not too far from where I am visiting family. She has a baby boy the same age as Izzy (ok, a couple weeks older), and we met up at a beautiful park on the lake to talk and let the kids play. It is always nerve-wracking meeting someone IRL for the first time. You never know if you will get along with them the same way, and you never know if how they look in pictures is a good reflection of how they look in 3-D, moving and talking. My friend ...
We celebrated Xavier's 10th birthday today. A few days late, but he still had fun. He made his own theme and gave me characters to draw. It was great! And my mom just went to the grocery store with sprayed green hair and a gruesome gaping hole temporary tattoo on her face. Awesome.
Just kidding. It's just another slideshow. HA-HA (ala Nelson).
Yesterday we spent most of the day at the Space Center in Houston. They had the usual space exhibits but they also had the animal version of Grossology, and the boys LOVE that. Really fun. Of course it was sad that daddy wasn't there with us, but maybe when he comes home we can make another trip back. I know he would have loved playing with the boys at the Space Center.
Here's a short slide show with pics since we've been in Texas this summer.
At 6 months post partum I am 29 lbs. under my pre-pregnancy weight (I know, I was really fat) and about 41 lbs. under my delivery weight. I still have a ways to go, but I can already see a difference: Pre-pregnancy: Today: (Ignore the mess in the background...I'm in the process of cleaning/packing)
This morning the kids and I attended a Boy Scout/Cub Scout Memorial Day ceremony. It was kind of an early morning for us, since we all had to get up around 5:30 am, which is about an hour early for me and an hour and a half early for the boys. They were very good about getting ready, though, and we made it to the post cemetery on time. Unfortunately, the time that had been sent out was 30 minutes prior to the start time. Someone pulled a "dad" on us and posted 6:30 am to be sure that ever...
Izzy had her first experience with a cup and with something besides breastmilk. She had 2 oz of unsweetened pear juice diluted with 2 oz of water. Next time I think I will dilute it a bit more. She seemed to find the aftertaste a bit tart, LOL. She managed to take in about 1/2 an ounce. Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos
A little comment about what a smartass my oldest is growing up to be (I'm so proud!): At the Cub Scouts Crossover ceremony (where they get to switch over the next rank up), he kept snickering when the Cubmaster talked about the path to Eagle (scout). Apparently he kept hearing the path to EVIL. Haha.
I am officially going grey. I have found grey hairs before (found my first one during the last deployment), but this time there are MANY. White, crinkly strands of oldness. My mom says my dad started going grey at 17 and apparently it runs in our family. I did some wiki work and learned about the mechanics behind going grey. Unfortunately, there's not a damn thing I can do about it. I can yank those bastards out for now, but I've developed an allergy to hair dye, so when they take over, ...
I can hardly believe this. I just got a voice mail from my child's school's vice principal (I have a home phone, but for some reason he felt the need to call me on my cell, which does not always get reception in my house). He called to inform me that my child had been in the office, speaking to both the principal and vice principal about his inappropriate behavior on the playground at recess. The vp went on to say that my child was in trouble for slapping other students (ok, that's bad). ...
