He always comes in and gives me a kiss before he leaves for work. Sometimes he's in his PTs, but this morning he was in his brown t-shirt and his skivvies. He was still getting ready, so I stretched as he went back down the stairs. I crawled out of bed, still sleepy and just emerging from a dream. I slipped on my pajama pants and grabbed my glasses and went downstairs to him. When I got downstairs he was in his BDU pants and was fiddling with his LBV. Frustrated, he was attempting...
Some self-obsessed yet creative teen down at Quiz Farm has posted a pretty fun little quiz to help you get in touch with your inner lesbian. The questions assume that you actually are a lesbian, but that didn't stop me. I'm a Suprise! Dyke, ala Portia De Rossi (aka Ellen's girlfriend). You scored as The Surprise! Dyke . Despite the dead giveaways, such as the tattoos and love of the L Word, people still seem to think that you're straight. The Surprise! Dyke ...
I've emailed with many JoeUsers. I've IM'ed with quite a few. I've even spoken over the phone with many of my JU friends. There are some JUs that to me feel like dear friends that I've known for years and years. It's always so special to getting to know a JU friend a little better. Email is fun. IMing is great. I LOVE to hear the voices of friends I've bantered with on JU for more than a year now. None of those can top meeting a JoeUser pal in real life, though. That's an entirel...
I got the neatest package in the mail the other day, and I just have to send a great big thank you to Jill and her family. What a thoughtful group of gifts, Jill. My boys *love* bears, and have quite a few from different places. My oldest has now decided, since he has a Michigan bear, that he's going to collect bears from around the world. Hehe. What a perfect surprise! The Mosquito Eggs gumballs were the perfect answer to the Gecko Eggs. How fun! We also collect postcards and r...
It's a man's world, right? Females are subject to discrimination, injustice, and prejudice the world over, including America. Our society chooses to punish women and praise men for the same actions. Our society promotes the idea that women are too emotional and unstable, and not smart enough or physically capable to surpass a man in a given situation. When a woman expresses anger or disgust, it is assumed that she is being overwhelmed by her fragile female emotions and not thinking cl...
This child clearly has ape ancestors. Try to deny it. Hehe. Kidding, but aren't you glad this wasn't ANOTHER "Evolution vs. Intelligent Design" debate article?
My apologies for taking so long posting this, but I have been crazy busy. Isabella Nohealani (pronounced No Hay Ah Lani, it means "beautiful girl from heaven") *Our Last Name* was born on Wednesday, November 29th at 3:43 am. She weighed 8 lbs and 7.9 oz and was 20 and 3/4 inches long. She has blondish-black hair (crazy, I know!) and blue eyes (for now). I had a doctor's appt on the 27th (3 days overdue), and my doctor decided to induce me so that Adrian would be here for...
Ever since enduring an apt and generalized e-scolding about adhering STRICTLY (and then some) to OPSEC, I have had the hardest time bringing myself to blog. It seems that most of the things I'd want to share are too personal. I'm still pregnant. I don't think that information jeopardizes any military missions. My due date is November 24th (Black Friday), but I have no idea when this baby is going to come. Last week at my appointment I was 2 cm dilated, 60% effaced, and sh...
THANK YOU, KELLY! I got your card in the mail yesterday, and it was such a nice surprise. Thanks! You guys amaze me.
I constantly feel guilty when it comes to my kids. I feel like I don't do enough for them. I feel like I let them down or disappoint them. Sometimes they will tell me about their disappointment. I didn't put enough juice boxes in their lunch box. I forgot to send them in their sneakers for P.E. All those little details that I can't manage to keep a handle on despite calendars and schedules. I feel like there's this fine line between being there for my children...
Anyone else notice the spelling errors on the "create a blog" page? I guess it's easy to recognize the mistakes of others. Not quite as easy to recognize our own. It's getting closer to baby time. I have about a week until I'm full term, but I don't expect (or particularly WANT) her to come for another 3 to 4 weeks. I had my first real OB appt yesterday (I've been seeing my PCP up until this point), and that was both nice and completely sucked. The parking at...
My boys are very involved in Cub Scouts and are busy working toward earning badges (Bobcat for both, Tiger for Orian, and Bear for Xavier) and belt loops (Ultimate Frisbee and Map and Compass so far!). We end up spending around 5-10 hours a week on scouting activities and scouting-related learning. My kids have Scouting on the brain for sure. (In fact, we can't make regular promises...we must make "Cub Scout" promises.) So today Orian sticks a shiny silver Subway sticker...
I had my 4D sonogram today. It was so fun! Sucker that I am, I ended up buying the biggest package, but now I have a DVD of the session to send to my husband. She is such a pretty baby! She definitely has her daddy's full lips! It is 100% confirmed that she IS a girl. Up close and personal. Hehe. She was so funny during the session. She's all scrunched up in there, with her head down in position and her feet curled up over her head. She smiled, put her thumb in her mouth, and...
Well, I'm home from the hospital. That SUCKED. Thank you all for the care and concern and an especially big thank you to everyone who called to check on me. It was so sweet and made me feel very cared about. Thanks so much. I'm kinda sleepy so I won't waste time with a long drawn about article describing how the ambulance ride felt like being in a blender or how I had an adorable nurse who looked like Jennifer Garner or the fact that I had to measure and record my pee...
Seems I've been bitten by the blogging bug. My apologies. (I got bit by some other kind of bug too, but that's a different story.) Izzy's 4 month check up was the morning, and she is doing wonderfully. One thing I hate, though, is having to hold my tongue and be polite while being patronized. Last appt (2 months), our doctor wasn't available. We saw a nice old man whom I felt comfortable with and who seemed to have a lot of wisdom and experience. This time I had an ...
