Welcome!
Published on October 13, 2005 By Texas Wahine In Diet
A big mahalo to alison for her suggestion that we form a blog group for dieting moral support.

The purpose of the blog group is to lend support, encouragement, tips, and accountability to fellow JoeUsers who are working on losing a few (or a buncha) pounds. Anything weight loss or diet related is welcomed.

Some ideas for things to post are meal plans, food journals, exercise logs, motivational/encouragement blogs, and dieting rants. This blog site is open for anything and everything (on the general topic of weight loss or maintenance) that you think will help yourself or others.

I intend to post my daily food journal to this site, and I welcome any encouragement, questions, or constructive criticism (please refrain from posting disparaging comments).

I hope this will be a helpful way for we JU dieters to establish a virtual support group to share experiences, successes and struggles.

Women-who-deny-themselves-the-stuff-they-really-really-want-to-eat unite!

I added you as a site admin, alison. I'm not sure exactly how all the blog group details work, but we should be able to figure them out as we go. Very cool.

I'm thinking about having Adrian take a pic of me now and posting it so that I can take more to compare and show my progress. If other JoeUsers wanted to do something similar I think that would be super cool. (Hehe, so I'm not the lone "before pic" blogger!)

I'll do it. I've gained some since the surgery...I could stand to lose about 15lbs. That'd put me down to around 120, which is a pretty healthy weight for my height.

I'll get Dave to take a 'before' pic this weekend and I'll post it. We could also have 'along the way' pics..wearing the same clothes as in our 'before' pics - think that would really show how much weight we've lost.

I'm in a size 9 right now, but ideally I'd like to get back into a 6.

dharma: Awesome! I'm really excited about this.

Gah, you've looked smokin' in all your pics. Of course, what feels comfortable and looks good to each woman is different, so have at it, sister!

Cool. I won't be the only one.

That's a great idea!!

Size 9 sounds delicious to me...haha...and I haven't been a size 6 in years!

Can an old round mom get in on the action? When the they sent me home from the hospital they said I need to watch my weight, because of fuild build up around the lungs and heart.

Sounds interesting ... between the change in diet (put our kids on the Feingold program (www.feingold.org) for behavioral problems and we're going along with it this time) and (hopefully) an increase in exercise, we'll see how it goes.

My big thing is to remember to eat breakfast (usually don't. Not much of a morning person and never have been a real breakfast person). With my hypoglycemia, it doesn't really help (in more ways than one).

Good luck, Tex (and the others)!

Oh, btw Tex - I know the reasons why you're doing this (your own sense of self-worth and peace of mind). I just want to say, as a guy, you look just lovely the way you are.

Absolutely. I'll add you to the site admins so you can post articles in the blog group, too. I hope you're feeling better.

Interesting. I'll have to check that site.

Yeah, breakfast gets your metabolism going and keeps you from going nuts on snacks and lunch...but I'm not usually hungry in the morning. It's hard for me, too.

I don't know what your schedule is like, but I'm guessing it's busy and it's probably difficult for you to find time for breakfast.

Yipes. Yeah.

Thanks!

Aw, thank you. I'm feeling pretty crummy about it right now. What a sweet comment. Thanks again.

Of course! You looked mighty fine in your pic to me, though!

Haha, everyone wants to lose weight and no one thinks anyone else looks bad! At least we're good for each other's self esteem. Hehe.

Count me in Started doing weight watchers (just follow the diet - didn't join) a couple of months ago and have a few friends that hold me accountable, but can always use more.

We had done Atkins for a couple of years off and on. I lost a total of 25lbs... but after I stopped the diet I put it all right back on. I'm finding WW easier and more logical. Of course... if I'm not faithful, it too puts the poundage back on. Imagine that!

I have a before pic of before the Atkins... DANG. It was that photo that caused me to diet to begin with, for the first time, at age 32. Guess it caught up to me, eh?

Here's my before...

My daughter took that on vacation. It was all I needed.

I took an after pic from behind, so I could compare the two... here's that one...

Thankfully, I'm still in those jeans... but they're definitely not comfy anymore. After a month of being faithful to watch what I put in my mouth (and exercise at Curves 4X a week), the fair came to town...ROFL. I am so weak!

*climbing back on the wagon* Here we go...

Great!

Haha. I tried Atkins a few years ago. I don't really eat meat, so it was pretty rough. And it made me sick. Ugh.

I'm finding WW easier and more logical. Of course... if I'm not faithful, it too puts the poundage back on. Imagine that!

Hehe. Well, I'm biased, but I think WW is healthy and realistic.

Wow, what a difference! You look fabulous! And apologies, but...you have a terrific bum! Haha.
