I realized this . . .
Published on January 6, 2005 By Texas Wahine In Misc
Last night in bed my mind did the thing it usually does . . . it raced through all sorts of random thoughts and a review of the day's events. There, laying on my back with my seven year old's knee lodged in my ribs and my Hawaiian print comforter pulled up to my neck, I was hit with the realization of few things . . .

I had not cried a single tear that day. Not one.

I have cried and cried until my eyes have ached and my body shook. I have cried in the car, at the computer, on the phone, in the bath, at the store, at the airport, on the plane, on the couch, in bed, at the doctor's office, while eating . . . I've even cried in my sleep. I have walked around with tears in the corner of my eyes, just waiting for the opportunity to roll hot and fast down my cheeks, for a month now.

But not yesterday. Oh, I came close . . . but it never happened. Not a drop.

I laughed a lot yesterday.

I laughed at Orian when the invisible monkey gave him a quarter. I laughed at the sarcastic comments Xavier came up with that are so characteristic of Xavier. I laughed at Jimmy Newtron (have you ever seen that show? It's pretty good!). I laughed at some really funny stuff that Mike had to say. I laughed and laughed at the hilarious stuff that Adrian said. I even laughed at things I thought up myself (I have the odd ability to amuse myself with things I say and do and think . . . I'm a dork, I know). I laughed.

Laughed!

And as I lay there, with the fog of almost-sleep around me, I realized that I was falling asleep on my own. No Ambien. No benadryl. No Sinus tablets. Just peaceful sleepiness.

I slept.

Awesome! Hold on to that good day when you're having a down day.

I was worried that you weren't sleeping because on one of your blogs(I think it was the That's Pretty Good one, but I could be wrong) you kept responding to comments for over a full 24 hours. As much as I look forward to your replies, you need your sleep!

Take care.

(BTW, yes, I IM...I have a yahoo id of xine156, note no T in xine, I'd love to add you to my list)

I hadn't thought about it that way, but you're right . . . there are still going to be down days, and I can use that to encourage me.

I have had trouble with sleeping . . . I can't get to sleep on my own, but once I'm asleep it's all I want to do. I think maybe always taking something to get to sleep is not the best idea because in the long run it will make it harder for me to go to sleep on my own. It's getting better, though.

Awesome.

...........> sleep, what a wonderful thing is it not? ( I have insomnia) Sleeping is very high on my list of "favorite things to do" I also have the so-called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I refer to it as "Im-a-lazy-ass-syndrome.
I can sleep for 12 hours, 10,8,6,4 or not at all but one thing remains the same. It is my favorite time of the "day". Waking sucks, the only thing I like is that my wife, (how I love her so) brings me coffee, which is always cold by the time I get my ass out of bed. Then, of course, the other thing is taking my oldest son to school, after which I normally, promptly fall asleep again.
Bed, couch. chair, floor, it dosent matter lol.
But I am happy for you...
err, why is it that you cry? Seems everyone else knows why but im an idiot so im in the dark.

ha ha ha I know how that is. I love to sleep and I hate getting up. It must suck to have to get up so early what with all the Army stuff . . . my husband used to be a sleeper, too, but the Army cured him of that, ha ha ha.

he he he . . . that's OK.

Usually the invisible monkey only does bad stuff like break things and eat stuff . . . this was the first constructive thing he's done . . . you really don't want an invisible monkey, trust me.
