I am so exhausted. It might be jet lag or it could just be life. Although I kinda think it's probably jet lag.

We flew back to Hawaii on Wednesday. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone. My family has some issues and it was hard to leave knowing those issues were not resolved. I had so much fun in Texas, though. I spent most of the time staying with my brother and his wife. We hadn't seen each other in years, and it was nice to reconnect and get to know them again. I really enjoyed their company and I hope we will be able to stay in touch. I had never disliked my SIL, but I never knew her all that well, either. That is not to say that I know her well now, but after spending some time with her I feel like we have come to be friends and I am happy that my brother chose her for his wife. They are really great.

While in Texas we went swimming several times. Izzy learned to stand up unsupported. She took her first step (twice, but only one step!). We went to the Space Center. SIL and I got pedicures. The boys went fishing with their grandpa. I went shopping with my mom. Izzy had her first solid food. We went to Gattiland. We visited my grandparents and Izzy got to meet her Pa and Gran-Gran and her other grandma and grandpa for the first time. The boys introduced their uncle to the magic of Guitar Hero. Isabella got her first Hooters tank top. I got to go nuts at Once Upon a Child (second hand store) and GAP. We had fun at the Health and Science museum. We went on a 10 hour road trip with 3 adults, 2 kids, a baby, and a chihuahua. We celebrated my paternal grandfather's birthday. I met a friend from a mommy website. We took a road trip to DFW and I got to stay with my friend Tenille and her husband. We went to the Star Wars exhibit and I got to meet the awesome Locamama. We went to the Kwik-E-Mart and had Homer donuts and Squishees and Krusty Os. We went to the Kemah boardwalk and tried out the rides and fed fish dog food and played cheesy carnival games and splashed in the jumping fountains. We touched stingrays. Ok, Jeremy touched stingrays. We watched Jeremy touch stingrays.

I loved that we had so many neat experiences and made so many cool memories, but most of all I am grateful for the time I was able to spend with friends and family.

So now I am home and things are busy again. No more handing the baby off and sleeping until noon. I am still unpacking and probably will continue to be unpacking for the next week. I have laundry to do and things to put away. A baby to feed and bathe. Meals to cook. Construction paper chains to create. Surfaces to sanitize. Trash to carry out.

Since we've come home, Izzy has become a "velcro baby". This means she will not allow me to be any farther away than her arms can reach. If I walk away to answer the phone or use the bathroom or put away a stray item, she follows me, crying. On the bright side, at least I know she loves me.

We picked up the boys' school supplies today. $160. Ouch. We saw the Simpsons movie this am and it was great until some kid blew chunks right beside my seat. Isabella didn't cry though, and I didn't have to miss any of the movie. The boys loved the movie. Best quote: "bountiful penis...amen".

Right now Isabella is squeezing Orian and laughing. He is laughing and shouting, "She squeezed my titty!" Crazy kids.

Tomorrow is a Cub Scouts bowling outing. I still haven't looked at the boys' new handbooks and Xavier doesn't have his Webelo Class A shirt yet. Luckily, the bowling activity is a "wear whatever you want" event.

Just a few more months until Adrian is home. I am looking forward to seeing him and hugging him tightly. I know he will love Isabella to bits and he will be proud of all that the boys have accomplished and how they have grown while he's been away.

Well, there's a bloody nose for me to attend to...

"it was great until some kid blew chunks right beside my seat"

That is awesome since it happened to you not me. I had to laugh out loud. It totally reminded me of Chunk from the Goonies. I need to buy that DVD.

"bountiful penis...amen".

well if that isn't a teaser, I don't know what is.

I'm so glad I got to meet you and your gang. You definately had a busy trip. So was the Quik E Mart worth the trip? I'm waiting for the slide show. I have to decide if I want to tackle the drive to the Big D.

My mother in law was visiting and it is hard to not have that extra help. You kind of get used to it while it lasts. Sleeping in? What's that? Of course, I don't have a little Isabella though I would like one. She's a cutie.

I made out on some of the cheapy school supplies at Wally World. 5 cents for prong folders, 15 cents for 24 count crayons, 17 cents for Elmer's glue sticks, 30 cents for notebook paper. My boys were like "why did you buy school supplies?!?" I think it really did strike fear in them that summer might be over soon. They still have a month left though.

Hey Loca? Kiss my ass! I'm sooooo jealous.

LOL. Next time Brandie makes it to the mainland, we'll have a secret JU sisterhood convention with lots and lots of margaritas, pitchers of margaritas. We'll kill a couple of bottles of Jose. Date, time and location to be disclosed at a later date.

It sounds to me like you have the perfect excuse to make a trip to Hawaii. There you can have some yummy maitais.

"LW flew down to meet us and we drank margueritas 'til we howled at the moon, wrote a song for Gid, and drove down there so she could play the fiddle for him.

soon enough, LW, soon enough!

Loca:

Hahaha. It was narsty. I smelled a horrible smell and then BLARG. Right beside me. Of course, he blew chunks all the way down the aisle, so I wasn't the only one afflicted.

The Kwik-E-Mart was really cool. They didn't have any Buzz cola when I was there, but it was still awesome. I can't believe I didn't post the slide show. I will do that later!

Good job on the school supplies! I didn't have a list and just got back so I waited too long. Wal-Mart was a zoo.

Sabrina: Haha. I love it. I wish it had included that too! And I love the "bye bye muslims". Hahahahhahaaha.

My kids were actually really great on the plane. Three different people made a point to tell me that they were the best behaved children they had flown with.

Izzy only cried out once and that was because the pilot was apparently a noob and the plane kept dropping suddenly and rapidly.

Loca: I love the sisterhood convention idea! We need to make that happen!

BP: HA-HA (Nelson)

Gid: I'm going to be so damn jealous if the two of you get to meet!

Of course, that's because you're a terrible mommy and you DRUG THEM!

Hahahahaa. Well, this time it was a day flight so no druggas. I could have used some though!

I wonder if the people who were so 'outraged' at the idea of someone giving their kid a little benadryl to help them calm down for a long flight

Can't speak for the others, but what got me personally was the behaviour of the flight attendant, not the suggestion of benadryl. I wouldn't use it personally, but I'm not making that decision for anyone else.

As for the "lil buddy", the implosion was interesting to watch.

Your kids sound hilarious!

Gives me the chills just thinking about it!

I'm waiting for the slide show.

Sounds like you probably have a lot of adventures that merit a slid show. Since you're obviously not busy you should get right on that.
on Jul 29, 2007
Whew, you had a blast for sure! Thanks for sharing your adventure!

LW: Thanks, although I think you give me faaaar too much credit. I'm just tryin' to survive! Haha.

I am not in favor of giving infants benadryl, but older children can experience anxiety and fear and insomnia and all the things that grown-ups do when it comes to long, uncomfortable flights. I see NOTHING wrong with giving them a safe OTC remedy to help them rest and relax. I do ask my children if they would like to have it so they don't feel like they have no say in the matter (and I don't give it unless *requested* for day flights since it can mess up their sleep cycle), but both Xavier and Orian WANTED benadryl to help them sleep through the long, boring, uncomfortable 8 hour flight to Texas.

Re: lil boy

I am surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Gid: I agree with you.

straniera: They are hilarious. Hehe.

And I posted the slideshow. Since I'm obviously not busy. HA-HA.

FS: Thanks! It went by far too quickly, but we made lots of wonderful memories.
