My boys are very involved in Cub Scouts and are busy working toward earning badges (Bobcat for both, Tiger for Orian, and Bear for Xavier) and belt loops (Ultimate Frisbee and Map and Compass so far!).

We end up spending around 5-10 hours a week on scouting activities and scouting-related learning.  My kids have Scouting on the brain for sure.  (In fact, we can't make regular promises...we must make "Cub Scout" promises.)

So today Orian sticks a shiny silver Subway sticker on my chest (my boob, actually, but whatever) and informs me that I have earned the Subway badge FOR...

Spending so much time on the computer!

Ahahahahahahahahahaha.  How sad is that?  Perhaps I need to get a "real" hobby.

LOL, Mason. Time wasted for sure. And yet, I can't stop. I'm sure the new baby will fix that for me.

I hope not--cause if you spend less time here, I'll have less to read.

Besides, we'd miss ya.

On another note: They were talking on the radio this morning about sending packages to those serving overseas. In thinking about participating, I thought it made more sense to help out those people that I know (or cyber-know). So, if you think Adrian would be interested in packages from a complete stranger (filled with whatever goodies he really wants/needs), let me know. LW has all my contact information. When my Dad was in Iraq (during the first Gulf War) I remember how thrilled he was to receive things like hand wipes and peanut butter. Lots of people sent things to him when he was there, and I'd love the chance to return the favor.

Or not

Good deal with the Scouts.

My ex just contacted me today via email saying that she's looking into Cub Scouts for my older boy. I'm just sorry that I won't be around to participate.

Oh well, it is a label a lot of us here could earn easily so at least you're not alone in your patheticness (sp?)

Heh, heh...I gave up on "real" hobbies a long time ago.

Hey, I want to earn a computer badge, too...

Well, enjoy it while you can...like you said, your baby girl will change all of that soon.
on Oct 19, 2006
Pretty soon, you will be begging to sit down and have some quiet.

That was pretty ingenious of your son though. Kids sure do know how to get to the meat of things, don't they.

If having raised a couple of happy healthy kids whose biggest concern in life is how their going to show their Mum they love her is pathetic... then bring it on.

The world could do with a bunch more pathetic people like yourself. Perhaps that could be your new hobby. You could teach other parents to be just as pathetic as you. You've only got to turn the news on at night to know how much its needed.

Perhaps Im being a little too dark for the good nature of this thread but its an unfortunate truth that theres a lot of kids out there who'd have to give their parents a badge for "beating me often", "touching me inappropriately" or "gambling away the money thats supposed to feed and clothe me".

As someone whose going to one day be old and infirm in a world run (hopefully) by kids like yours all i can say is "thank you".

Pathetic you aint.

Oh...thats right it's "Mom" where you're from right?

I wonder if "Mum" sounds as stupid to you as "Mom" does to me. lol

Aww, thanks.

I'm sure he'd really appreciate that. As you mentioned, care packages are really a bright spot for a lot of the men and women over there. I'll look and see if I still have your email address. If not, email me at brandie0121 at yahoo dot com, and I'll get the info to you.

It's really thoughtful of you to offer to do this, Shades. Thank you.

Mason: LOL. Maybe I just need to get her a wee little desk with her own computer. Hehe.

Hehe, at this point it's exhausting me, but the kids love it.

My ex just contacted me today via email saying that she's looking into Cub Scouts for my older boy. I'm just sorry that I won't be around to participate.

That really sucks. I don't know if you live far from your ex, but maybe you can participate in some of the activities when they correspond with time off?

Maso:

LOL. Yeah, but I think I take pathetic to a whole new level. It is nice to finally get some recognition for my efforts, though.

All my hobbies are either kid or computer related. I did try growing some tomatoes and basil and flowers, and apparently I suck at that.

Real hobbies are for suckers, right? Hehe.

InBloom:

Haha, ok....here's the requirements for earning the Too Much Computer Time Badge:

1. Check Joeuser, email, and various message boards at least 10 - 20 times throughout the day.
2. Participate in online interaction via email, blogging, or message boards by contributing a minimum of 20 posts to the various sites.
3. Discover 3 online stores and purchase at least one new item from each site. Follow up by tracking shipping several times throughout the day until packages arrive.
4. Have a discussion with a friend or family member about a) the benefits of internet interaction, the cost of shipping or c) someone you "met" online (be sure to talk about them as if you actually know them).

LOL. Anyone up for the challenge? Hahaha.

Well, enjoy it while you can...like you said, your baby girl will change all of that soon.

It seems such a long ways away, but I know she will be here before I know it. And the boys and I will have a lot of adjustments to make!

Kelly:
Pretty soon, you will be begging to sit down and have some quiet.

No kidding! Although, one nice thing about breastfeeding is that I HAVE to sit down and relax several times a day. No choice. Hehe.

That was pretty ingenious of your son though. Kids sure do know how to get to the meat of things, don't they.

That's so true. They catch on. And they don't mind letting you know what they've noticed...usually in the most unflattering wording possible!

ScoffPiggy: Happy to see you here on my blog. Haha. You're one of my new favorite people.

What a nice thing to say. Although, I'm pretty sure we don't want the world's parents imitating a woman who walks her kids to school in her pajamas and whose children wear mohawks. LOL.

As someone whose going to one day be old and infirm in a world run (hopefully) by kids like yours all i can say is "thank you".

So sweet. Thank you.

I wonder if "Mum" sounds as stupid to you as "Mom" does to me. lol

Actually, I go by "Momma"...I guess someday when my kids are older I'll be upgraded to "Mom" status. Then again, I could make my kids seem more worldly by enforcing a strict "Mum" policy. Hehe.

LW:
Yeah, Brandie, I asked you over a MONTH ago how I could send him a phone card and you never got back to me. Understandable with all you have going on right now, but please do let us know how we can send goodies, to him and his platoon buddies.

I'm so sorry. I'll shoot you an email right now before I forget.

Oh, , golly gosh Texas, now I feel all warm and fuzzy.

Although, I'm pretty sure we don't want the world's parents imitating a woman who walks her kids to school in her pajamas and whose children wear mohawks.

If the kids are well adjusted and happy we do. Besides where Im from, Bananas wear pajamas (especially when coming down the stairs and while chasing teddy bears) so who the world could have a bad word to say about that?
