I think most of you know my name.

Brandie.

B-r-a-n-d-i-e

Brandie.

Not Brandi. Or Brandy. Or Brenda (yeah, I've gotten some of THAT too).

I don't know if my name suits me. It's a weird thing to think about, but I do think about it from time to time. To me, 'Brandie' is a slut name. It's popular, but not incredibly popular, and my spelling is just rare enough that no one in the universe can spell it right.

I was supposed to be 'Brandy', but my great-grandmother told my mom that no granddaughter of hers would be named after a liquor (of course that same great-grand always called my brother Jeremy "germany", sooo...) and so my mom tweaked the spelling just enough that I'll never find a keychain or magnet or glitter ruler with my name on it.

When I think about my name, it weirds me out. It just doesn't seem to fit me at all. I mean, I answer to it alright, but it just seems...weird.

The original Batman movie has a line by the Joker..."Looks like he's been usin' Brand X..." Well, I'm "Brand E", hahha...for some reason that just sticks with me. There's "Brand X" and "Brand E".

I've run across a total of 2 Brandies in my life...both were working in customer service. That doesn't bode well, now does it?

I believe that a child's name does influence his or her life. There are certain names that just sound successful. You expect great things from these people. And there are names that sound cute. Or weak. Or happy. Or old. Or gay. Names set the tone for the life.

An employer reading resumes gets an impression from a name.

What impression do they get from "Brandie"?

Slutty? Bubbly? Unconventional (judging by spelling)?

I'm not sure.

As my four (soon to be five) year old would say, "So, what's your point"?

Dunno.

I just have a weird name is all.

Brandie I think you may have inadvertantly heard that song and not realised remember Charlies Angels where they're on the boat and Chad and Dylan (Drew Barrymore) are singing "Brandy" right before they all jump in the water to go rescue Bosley??

I think Sabrina (MJH) works as a blonde because she was blonde in the Archie comics.

But I also think of Sabrina the two movies - the original (1954) with Audrey Hepburn (Humphrey Bogart & William Holden) and the remake (1995) with Julia Ormand (Harrison Ford & Greg Kinnear)

And then there was Sabrina Duncan (Kate Jackson) in the original Charlies Angels series. (All 3 of which were brunettes)

Julia Roberts is a red-head and her character in I Love Trouble (terrible movie) was called Sabrina.

I've only even seen Alison spelt with one L - two L's looks weird to me. And Allyson reminds me of June Allyson who was Jo in one of the Little Women's (the Janet Leigh/Elizabeth Taylor one I think)

For years they never made Name stuff for my name - It went from Katherine to Kelly sometimes there was Kate (which was one of my nicknames) but never a Katrina. Whenever I found something I always bought it.
My sister was Deborah or Debbie they'd usually have Debbie or Debra hardly ever with the O and the H.

I don't know why I did it because I always hated it myself but I've done the same thing to my daughter - she MIGHT be able to find a Alana, Alannah, Elena (maybe maybe) but I don't think she'll ever find an Elana. And I did it that way because I was one of 3 Katrina's at school. I never wanted her to be Sarah/Britney/Emily P. (none of those names were on my shortlist they're just an example)

I know lots of people named Elana.

I believe you're the first "Brandie" I've ever "met". It's a nice name and totally suits you in my opinion! Doesn't make me think slut, never crossed my mind! It's uniguely yours so be proud of it!

Now my name, Donna, has been spelt, Dana, and it's pronounced Danna by most people but it's the "o" sound. My friends call me D most of the time. My maiden name was a worrier for some people Dunkley. It's even been spelt incorrectly on my birth certificate and I had to go through a hoop and a dance to get it changed legally to it's correct spelling - all this before I got married and have my new name! What an experience that was!

My mom wanted to name my brother Quincy from some show she watched.

hehe...that is my oldest dog's name.

I have a cousin named Brandy.  She was named after her Mom's favorite drink: Brandy Alexandra.  Isn't that just wrong?

I have a boring name: Angela.  But people I know call me "Angie".  And this one freak that I knew used to start signing the Stones song "Angie" every time he saw me.  Got really annoying.  I don't feel like an "Angie", but I'm also not sure what my name would be if I could choose.   Names are odd things when you think about them too much.

You can put "Brandie" on a resume and it won't matter what they think looking at it, because as soon as you open your mouth, or they read your letter of application, they will realize just what an intelligent, eloquent, charming, well-spoken woman you are... and then they'd thank their lucky stars (if they're into that witchy stuff...(kidding) LOL) that YOU found THEM.

I sympathize completely. I have this extra "h" in my name that no one (even family) seem to remember exists. Hmm...

My name was never on personalized stuff when I was growing up, and I have a simple name. Come to think of it, my sister rarely found anything with her name on it. I'm Mandy (NOT Amanda or Samantha). My sister is Sara (without the H). No I am not named after the Barry Manalow song.

My kids will never find anything with their names on it, and nether will my neice. Athena, Demetri, Thor and Staria. We didn't pick mainstream names just because every name we could think of, we could think of someone with the same name we didn't like (LOL).

I like all the names I have seen on here though. Oh, and Thor's nickname is Teddie (L).
