I am making a mix tape (CD) for Adrian with sappy love song and songs that make me think of him/us.  I am having the hardest time rounding out my list.  I hear songs all the time that make me think of him, but just trying to sit here and remember what they all are is really difficult.  So I am open to suggestions.

Give me your love song ideas, please!

So far I have:

Can't Take My Eyes Off You -- Muse
Right Here Waiting -- Staind
Glycerine -- Bush
The Scientist -- Coldplay
I Walk the Line -- Johnny Cash
Here By Me -- 3 Doors Down
Far Away -- Nickelback
Still Remains -- STP
My Immortal -- Evanescence
Insatiable -- Darren Hayes
Ava Adore -- Smashing Pumpkins
Here Without You -- 3 Doors Down
Thirty-three -- Smashing Pumpkins
The Perfect Drug -- NIN
Love Song -- 311

Throw in "Heroes" by David Bowie. An oldie, but, in my estimation, appropriate.

How about "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters?

Those are the ones that come to mind right away. I don't know y'all's tastes well enough, though.

How 'bout At Last by Etta James?
on Apr 24, 2007
Thanks. I will DL those. I've never heard Heroes. I'm sure I've heard Everlong and I'm just not matching it up to its title.

OT: Heya Gid, did you get the package I sent you? I keep checking and I still don't have a tracking number although I've never known them to mess it up.

Oh, and thanks, Shovel. I'll snag that one too. Although, sadly, I know it from American Idol.

It is a beautiful song though. I think I'll take a peak at the lyrics.

At our wedding, we had Somebody, a Depeche Mode song, this version performed by Veruca Salt played. It was "our song" (but her choice), but that album makes me think of her. (The whole album, For The Masses, a tribute to Depeche Mode, makes me think of her, actually.)

Bad for me, but I still like the song (and the album) anyway. If that particular one doesn't do it for you, something else by DM would surely be appropriate.

No, I haven't gotten anything yet.

You've probably heard "Heroes", you just wouldn't know it off the top of your head. As for "Everlong", here's the chorus, to hopefully jog your memory:

"And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If anything will ever feel this real forever
If anything will ever be this good again.
The only thing I ask from you,
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when"

I probably mangled a few words, but it's close enough...loL!

pseudo: Hahaha, I'm so lame. I don't know that song.

But I will look it up.

Thanks for the Depeche Mode suggestion.

Gid: That sucks. I was so sure it would already be there. I may have to call customer service.

Yep, I know Everlong...I just DLed and listened to it. Good stuff.

I can give you a list of songs that used to make me think of my ex...

You and I ~ Michael Buble (It was going to be our wedding song)
Save Me ~ Amy Mann
Love Shack ~ B52's (But mostly because he hated it, and was embarrassed that I knew it)
I Want to Hold Your Hand ~ The Beatles
Feel like a Natural Woman ~ Carole King
Invincible ~ Crossfade (Don't know how appropriate this one would be)
Come Away with Me ~ Norah Jones
I Guess that's why they call it the Blues ~ Elton John
Hold My Hand ~ Hootie and the Blowfish
Sweet Little Thing ~ Lucero
Where You Are ~ Marc Broussard

My new list is much more interesting... you know, the ones I listen to when I'm mentally beating the crap out of him...

Hope some of those help!

It's old school DM. I don't think you're lame for not knowing it... I was actually bracing myself for accusations of "lame" to be aimed at me for suggesting/liking DM in the first place.

Good luck with your "mix tape."

Here's my love song playlist that I posted in February. This may keep you busy for a while or it may remind you of some songs you had forgotten. There are also other songs in the comments.

I don't have a bunch of suggestions because I like most of the ones already up here.

How about: Marc Cohn - True Companion

Baby I've been searching like everybody else
Can't say nothing different about myself
Sometimes I'm an angel
And sometimes I'm cruel
And when it comes to love
I'm just another fool
Yes, I'll climb a mountain
I'm gonna swim the sea
There ain't no act of God girl
Could keep you safe from me
My arms are reaching out
Out across this canyon
I'm asking you to be my true companion
True companion
True companion

So don't you dare and try to walk away
I've got my heart set on our wedding day
I've got this vision of a girl in white
Made my decision that it's you allright
And when I take your hand
I'll watch my heart set sail
I'll take my trembling fingers
And I'll lift up your veil
Then I'll take you home
And with wild abandon
Make love to you just like a true companion
You are my true companion
I got a true companion
True companion

When the years have done irreparable harm
I can see us walking slowly arm in arm
Just like the couple on the corner do
'Cause girl I will always be in love with you
And when I look in your eyes
I'll still see that spark
Until the shadows fall
Until the room grows dark
Then when I leave this Earth
I'll be with the angels standin'
I'll be out there waiting for my true companion
Just for my true companion
True companion
True companion

I can't play that song without thinking of my wife.

I grew up with the 80's hair bands, so any of the great power ballads from that time. But, there is one song, our song, that you won't hear on the radio unless you're listening to a broadcast of the Dr. Demento show or some other novelty show.

They're coming to take me away, ha, ha.......! by Napoleon XIV

It\s very corny, and not all that romantic, unless you're us, but it's our song nonetheless. Love does make you mad, right?

Toni and I have and love so much different music, its not funny. One of the bands we really dig is BranVan3000. They had a song called 'Love Cliche' and every time we hear it, we look at each other and go mushy. It is a beautiful piece of pop music and the words are:

LOVE CLICHE

ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba

You see i met her on a monday
And her name was chill
From the what-the-hell family's
Relation to free will
Yeah she circled my circumference
Said she had some time to kill
Been combing the beach for a beautiful freak
And i just might fit the bill
She said:

Ooh, i think i'm liking you
Ooh, do you feel the same way too?
I said, ooh, i think i do
I said, ooh, i think you're cute
I said, ooh, merci beaucoup
I said, ooh ooh
And maybe i'm calling you baby
And i might just say you're my love cliche

You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
And i like it that way

You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
And i like it that way

So we fell in love that summer
Underneath the star wars sign
Drinking cases of each other
And guitar and april wine
And we lay down in the alley
As the sunlight hit the pine
And talked of all things great
Like the rose of gertrude stein
And we fell in love that summer
But it lasted eighteen weeks
Used to kiss her on the hummer
Now i kiss her on the cheek
And i vividly remember
In a moment of recline
When she whispered in my ear
"i think i like both kinds"

She said, ooh, i think i do
I said, ooh, i think you're cute
She said, ooh, merci beaucoup
I said, ooh ooh
And maybe i'm chasing amy
And i might just say you're my love cliche

You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
And i like it that way

You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
And i like it that way

I'm feeling love
I'm feeling love
I'm feeling love
I'm feeling love

I'm feeling love
I'm feeling love
I'm feeling love
I'm feeling love

So why don't you tell me what's great?

When the puck hits the net
At the stanley cup game
And miles hits the notes
When he sketches out of spain
And the wedding gets you high
From the perfect catering
And love makes you lie
Even though you bought the ring
And you screw with your spine
And the minor chord change
And the more things change
The more they stay the same
But i'm looking for your kind
Yeah i'll drive through the driving rain
'cause what was so wrong
From the very beginning
That we would have to change

You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
And i like it that way

You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
You're my love cliche
And i like it that way

And maybe i'm calling you baby,
And i might just say you're my love cliche

I'm in love
I'm in love
I'm in love

I'm in love
I'm in love
I'm in love

They're coming to take me away, ha, ha.......! by Napoleon XIV

My Grandparents used to have that on an 8 track called "Looney Tunes".  It had "they call him the streak" and other crazy songs like that.

It's weird when you think of songs that remind you of somebody, because they are usually connected with something in your life.  So, it could be a bad song, but it still has a connection.

Here are a couple that remind me of my hubby:

Will you still love me- Chicago (that's our wedding song, which my husband picked out)
Faithfully- Journey
Maybe I'm amazed- Paul McCartney
Unforgettable- Nat King Cole
You are so beautiful- Joe Cocker
